When appropriate for the geotechnical conditions, helical piles and tension anchors can be an economical and quick solution for a variety of project needs.  Advantages – to name a few:

  • Code Approved – Pre-Engineered:  At DRS Engineering Contractors, we install the AB Chance of helical piles and anchors.  AB Chance pioneered the use of helicals for foundation support and they maintain current ESR reporting for their products.  These are engineered products making their implementation easy for project engineer to incorporate into their work.
  • Rapid Install / Rapid Loading:  In the right soils conditions, helical piles and anchors can be installed rapidly and loaded immediately – no grout to cure before loading.

Helical Considerations

As with all geotechnical foundation systems, project specific geotechnical information should be considered before specifying  helical piles or anchors on your project.  No one foundation support systems is the answer to every support project.  A common challenge in Colorado is the minimum depth requirements due to expansive overburden and bedrock.  At DRS Engineering Contractors we are seasoned in techniques to use helicals in these challenging conditions and have the experience installing alternate systems when helicals aren’t the best solution.
