Job Title: Project Engineer/Project Manager

Position Type: Full-Time

Overview:

DRS Engineering Contractors is seeking an outgoing Project Engineer / Project Manager to join our geotechnical construction team. This unique opportunity will allow the successful candidate to learn and grow in their profession and apply their strengths to influence the strategic direction and success of our small, highly reputable construction company.

The ideal candidate has a professional engineering license with an emphasis on geotechnical and/or structural engineering. Technical knowledge in the areas of geotechnical engineering and geotechnical construction, as well as experience with a variety of piling and earth retention systems, is preferred. Professionalism and strong ethical values are a must.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project documents and prepare comprehensive bids and proposals for clients.
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts with clients and ensure compliance with all agreements.
  • Develop design submittals, primarily for micropiles and helical piles.
  • Pile load testing: Field testing and analysis, primarily ASTM D3689 and D1143
  • Internal QA/QC of geotechnical construction work: calibrations, grout tests, etc.
  • Act as a liaison between professional engineers, clients, and field personnel.
  • Develop construction means and methods and maintain knowledge of current technologies: will work directly with field personnel in this capacity.
  • This position involves a combination of office and field work.
  • Very limited travel required for meetings, site visits, conferences, etc.

Minimum ​Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a geotechnical or structural emphasis.
  • PE registration in the state of Colorado.
  • 5 Years progressive engineering and management experience.  A master’s degree in engineering or business and relative internship(s) will be considered towards this requirement.
  • Outgoing personality: involvement with professional organizations and daily communication with clients and engineers will be required.
  • Ability to make business critical decisions and perform as a leader.
  • Detailed oral, written, and documentation skills.
  • Physical fitness: Ability to operate on uneven field conditions, ladder climbing, lifting to 75 lbs.
  • Analytical, Ethical, Creative and Curious.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with limited access foundation systems, such as micropiles and helical piles.
  • Experience with design and construction of earth retention, shoring and underpinning systems.
  • Working knowledge of foundations built along the Colorado front range on expansive soils.
  • Software: AllPile, L-Pile, Group, Shoring Suite or similar, Excel, MS Office, Bluebeam, SolidWorks.

Job Title: Staff Engineer

Position Type: Full-Time

Overview:

              DRS Engineering Contractors is seeking an outgoing individual to join our geotechnical construction team. This individual will be immersed in hands-on experience, both in the field and in the office. They will see projects from initial planning through design and to the completion of construction. This is a unique opportunity which will allow the successful candidate to learn and grow in their profession and apply their strengths to directly contribute to the success of our small, highly reputable construction company. The ideal candidate will have, or is actively pursuing, a professional engineering license. Technical knowledge, professionalism and strong ethical values are a must.

Key Responsibilities: (anticipate broad and increasing responsibilities with experience)

  • Review soils reports, plans, and specifications to prepare preliminary designs and bid take-offs for proposals.
  • Assist in the preparation of design submittals, primarily for micropiles and helical piles.
  • Perform field load testing, analysis, and reporting, primarily ASTM D3689 and D1143.
  • Internal QA/QC of geotechnical construction work: calibrations, grout tests, etc.
  • Assist the project manager, clients, and field personnel to ensure project designs are successfully implemented.
  • This position involves a combination of office and field work, evolving to more of an office position with experience.
  • Very limited travel required for meetings, site visits, conferences, etc.

Minimum ​Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a geotechnical, structural or civil emphasis
  • EIT certificate with plans to obtain PE registration in Colorado within 2-3 years.
  • Outgoing personality: involvement with professional organizations and daily communication with project managers, clients and engineers will be required.
